Barbie the Movie

There are lots to say about that one. Not going into the movie itself though. But the releases of the dolls. Mattel has made a lot of devestating desicions on this one. Production size is one. Or rather lack of telling numbers. Release schedule another. Not to forget how they are released. Several were/are Size by Order and Pre-Order to that. A year and more ahead. In the midst of that international shipping regulations changed, so they are not shipping to many European countries anymore, Sweden included. I can circumvent this if money and means are lining up with the releases. Well. All that set aside.

The dolls. They have sculpts in the likeness of the actors in most cases. Barbie and Ken for instance. There are two sculpts each but the second, closed mouth Ryan sculpt for Ken wasn't OK-ed at first release, so a generic smiley face Ken was made. This caused a lot of frustration for us non Americans when they did give the "order dolls" the new, closed mouths. In a later, second release of the playline dolls, the Ken dolls were given the new head which really is a Ryan Gosling in miniature. Ryan as Ken smiles some through the movie, but mostly not. Barbie, of course looks a great deal like the awesome Margot Robbie. The rest of the dolls have existing Barbie and Ken sculpts.
In July 2025, we got to see sneaks of upcoming club dolls (Barbie Club 59 only), also sold through certain US stores. It was four Chelsea dolls in mini fashions of some of the early Barbie and Ken dolls.

Regular playline dolls, not connected to the movie has also been seen. This year (2025) an Allan doll was released. He is sold through certain US stores and I really hope he will make it to Europe somehow. I really don't like the M company's decisions in a lot of these instances. Allan is not a movie tie-in, but he is a modern version of the old Allan, and slightly reminds of the movie version Allan. 

The ones listed are the ones I know more about right now. There are several more released I need to find info about but as this is supposedly my own, "what-I-have-catalog" they will just be listed, hopefully under the right ©-year.
