Heart FamilyTM

The Heart Family were never real friends to Barbie but lived side by side with them. The family itself consisted of Mom and Dad, the twins (a girl and a boy) and a New Born baby. The twins had a HUUUGE crowd of friends and cousins of all colors, all made with the Rosebud mold. There was also a couple of intriguing dolls in this series, the caucasian Grand parents. They were made with molds almost never used again. I recently learned that a Disney doll was made with Grandpa Heart's face mold; Davy Crockett.
The Heart Family was sold in both Caucasian and African American versions and the faces of Mom varied.

Midge's Happy FamilyTM

Midge got married to Alan in 1990 which resulted in a big family some years later. For the first time Midge came in a black version too, made with the Teen Skipper mold. In 2003 Alan and Midge had two kids, Ryan 3, and new born Nikki that was born with the help of pedriatrician Barbie. In 2004 they got yet another baby, made from the same mold as Nikki. This time the baby was unnamed and without telling if it was a boy or a girl. Nikki also turned a year old in 2004 and came in a new cute toddler version with some Birthday friends released too. Grandma and Grandpa Hadley (as Midge's real sir name was in the 60s) came in a huge set with Grandma's kitchen in 2003 but the customers wanted the dolls released in single sets, so in 2004 they came boxed separately with Birthday Gifts for their one-year old granddaughter.
